In a December 3rd, 2021 visioning session led by the Centre of Excellence - PTSD with members and stakeholders,
it was determined that many still wanted to be able to obtain support from those with MST in a safe space, regardless of
the formal Peer Support Program offered by the Sexual Misconduct Response Centre.
We decided to call this space our COMMUNITY HUB where our pillars of Support, Restore & Empower are
guiding principles with the focus on survivors supporting survivors (S3). This element of our work over the past seven years remains, however, there is much more of a focus on keeping the space positive,
while directing individuals to appropriate supports as needed.
Wherever possible, our "Navigators" will meet with Stakeholders to get an orientation on different services offered
by their organizations so they can better direct individuals to the resources they need.
In addition this hub will be where INJ20K can offer coordination of social connection opportunities in person across Canada!
We encourage our INJ20K Group members to consider being a lead with such things as virtual or in-person
coffee chats, book clubs, brown bag lunches, and any other group socializing ideas they can imagine!!
Our Navigators (Facebook calls them Moderators) are valuable members of our team who help navigate our Private Facebook INJ20K Group members to information and resources that can be found within and outside of our group.
Tracy spent almost 21 years in the Navy, West Coast. She was a NESOP (Naval Electronic Sensor Operator), and retired as a PO2. Currently living and working in Ottawa for DND, Tracy is passionate about INJ20K and the work ahead. She is very empathetic and can see great things are possible, and she is tired of hiding behind shame and wants to take an active role in this endeavour of survivors supporting survivors. In her words, "we need to take back out dignity and let others feel the shame".

We are sorry you had to experience the trauma associated with military sexual misconduct. We hope that by reaching out, you have found a place among others who can empathize with your experience.
The Private Facebook Community Hub is exclusively for serving members or retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) who experienced Military Sexual Misconduct (MSM) that resulted in Military Sexual Trauma (MST). Our Group includes persons of any gender, race, or sexual orientation with members being added daily seeking healing resources and confidential support.
Being a member of the hidden Private Facebook Group means that any information, including members’ names, entails a strict code of confidentiality that all members are mandated to follow. There is a Guide tab on the Group page that details Member Administration regarding conduct.
Please be aware that the Community Hub has Post Approval turned ON.
Many social media groups struggle with trying to maintain respectful Member behaviour from time to time. Post Approval will eliminate bullying or inappropriate comments from happening and also prevents our Community Hub from being overrun with for-profit advertising, memes, political posts, and various other types of posts that have nothing to do with MST survivors supporting survivors.
It goes without saying that any member of the Private Facebook Group is not to divulge in any way, shape, or form, any information of any member in this group, including names. The Group Rules and Guides will need to be reviewed by all members regularly, and anyone caught betraying the confidence of the group or violating the posted rules they agreed to follow when requesting to join will be removed as per those Group rules and in accordance with the Membership Guide.
Warning: We have an arrangement with the military police (who can liaise with provincial and city police) that anyone using our platforms to find victims will be reported.
Furthermore, because of the media interest due to the class-action lawsuit and other events, we have to be a more vigilant as to who we are introducing into the Private group, so you will be asked to provide verification of CF/CAF/DND service. This is important for a number of reasons, but most importantly to protect each and every member of the group from further victimization from the media, other military members, etc.
Please note: we are not medically trained professionals - the support you will find in this group is survivors supporting survivors (S3), and by seeking membership, you participate on your own volition and you are cautioned to assess any resources or support given against your personal needs.
If you are experiencing an emergency, please CALL 911.
There are also crisis line numbers associated with active serving members and veterans included on this website.
The Private Facebook Group as well as our other social platforms, are meant to provide informal, non-medical support for Military Sexual Trauma Victims.
